No Comments Mad Max: big ego, little appeal
So actually I could care less about Dancing with the Stars or any of the similar shows except for their pure entertainment value. Most of the time we miss the talent shows because they compete with the likes of NCIS and other well produced, suspense programs. However, my thoughts on this subject come as comments about EGO. When dancer Mad Max lashed out at the Dancing with the Stars judge and veteran dancer Len, saying: “Maybe it’s time for you to retire…” and “It’s my show…….,” I wondered how long Max would last as a dancer. If this guy lasts beyond this season, then something is really wrong with the show’s producers and the network honchos. His insults followed a very sharp critique by the judge who is an expert in ballroom choreography. Isn’t it the judge’s job to critique, as it is the dancer’s job to dance and Max’s job to teach the celebrity amateurs the dance techniques? The next morning on Good Morning America, Max said he would have been more humble, had he been given hot sexy, talented amateurs to teach. Now he’s insulting the celebrities who come to the show to learn. Guess that’s why I watch HGTV and NCIS or the news shows.
This guy Max is like many other so-called celebrities who not only read their own press, they think it’s going to last forever. They really believe they are royalty and that life owes them a throne and a crown. Maybe it takes some years on earth to get to this train of thought, but many of us had our celebrity days, whether national or local. We had the privilege of a little taste of mild stardom. It was fun, but it never lasts and it’s not supposed to last. It was all part of the game at the time and life changes. So if one didn’t save and invest one’s money, one was a fool. Max may be hot today, but Max may be minimal tomorrow.
Max reminds me of a guy whose cubicle at work was near mine. He was a mere reporter, as was I. Once I overheard him on the telephone attempting to get a discount on holiday gifts from a local electronics retailer. He was telling the sales person that he was responsible for starting the company that we worked for. He claimed to be a partner of the owner and he was yelling at this sales manager to respect his hierarchy. It was embarrassing and I believe he received the discounts on those lies. He didn’t last very long after that anyway because he was a tyrant. When Max spoke, I thought about that guy for the first time in years.
A message to Max: Be careful who you cross while you’re up. You have to pass the same folks on your way down and it’s a long hard fall from the top, or wherever you believe you are. The other thing he said on GMA was that his only apology in life was to his grandmother as she was dying. Wow! He must have really crossed grandma to have to say he was sorry on her death bed. How unfortunate. Fortunately, I’ve never been up that high, so I honestly can’t say my state of oblivion hurts. In fact, it’s fun because I always knew the fat lady would sing and I intended to be ready. However, I’m afraid it’s going to hurt Max.
